Xavi Pascual avoided commenting on the rumors linking him to the Dubai Basketball coaching job once the current season ends, stating that his full attention is focused on the remainder of the season.
Following Barça’s victory in Tenerife, the current Barça coach was asked about reports suggesting a possible agreement with the Dubai team.
The Catalan coach opted for caution and postponed any decision about his future, insisting that the immediate goal is to take his team as far as possible in the title race.
“Right now, I’m just focused on the team, trying to lead them to the playoffs in the best possible position. Then, I’ll play the playoffs and concentrate on trying to win this title. That’s all. If there’s anything to say, we’ll talk at the end of the season. I can’t control the rumors that come and go. It’s uncontrollable; there’s been a lot of talk since I arrived—signings, moves… I can’t control that. Right now, I’m focused on this season, and we’ll see what happens,” Pascual declared.
The Spanish coach thus avoided fueling speculation about his possible move to Dubai, a project that continues to generate excitement in European basketball due to its growth and ambition for the coming seasons, but there are increasing reports that his departure from Barça this summer is already a done deal.
