Two of the most formidable wrestlers to have ever laced their boots in Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega will throw down in six days at AEW All In: London for the AEW World Championship. Once on the same page, the tables have turned, with each man undercutting the other since Ospreay won this year’s Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament. In the first-ever episode of AEW’s newest talk show, “Spill The Tea,” “The Billy G.O.A.T.” describes how Omega compares to other opponents he’s stood in opposition to, and what’s to be expected in their upcoming title match.
“My whole life has been 10 years of chasing him,” Ospreay said. “Ten years of just wanting to be better than Kenny Omega. It’s always been, like, someone I take great influence from. He’s a big inspiration, like, generally a hero to me, to be honest with you. That’s who I want to be…Now, we’re gonna try and kill each other at Wembley Stadium. That’s the ultimate beauty, I think.”
Hoping that this match ends fairly and sportsmanlike, Ospreay said there is one thing he will not do in their match, even if his potential victory depends on it.
“Suffocation,” he answered. “I don’t really believe in that. It’s not nice…I think it’s morally wrong to be suffocating anyone, whether it’s in wrestling or in real life. I’d rather punch someone or elbow someone, you know, I think that’s a more healthy outlet of professional wrestling, rather than murder.”
In their most recent interaction last Wednesday on “AEW Dynamite,” Omega pulled no stops, as he sent Ospreay crashing through a table with his signature One Winged Angel finisher. At the time of that brutal conclusion, Omega was coming off a victory with The Young Bucks against The Don Callis Family’s El Clon, Jake Doyle, and Mark Davis. Earlier that evening, Ospreay also won his respective trios match with his United Empire allies — Francesco Akira and HENARE — against another set of the Callis Family members Brian Cage, Lance Archer, and Rocky Romero.
