MO SALAH may have kicked his last ball for Liverpool this year after his recent bombshell interview.

In 2023, the Egyptian became Liverpool’s all-time top goal scorer in the Premier League.

And he has been a catalyst to the Reds’ recent success during his nine-season stint, winning two top-flight titles, a Champions League, and a Club World Cup.

However, Salah’s future at Anfield is in doubt after his comments landed him in trouble with his employers.

SunSport can explain why Mo Salah is currently not playing for the club.

Why is Mo Salah not playing for Liverpool against Inter Milan?

Salah, 33, set off alarm bells when he went on an impassioned tirade following Liverpool‘s 3-3 draw with Leeds United last Saturday.

It was the third straight game in which the Egyptian did not start, and in this case he didn’t even come off the bench as the Reds slumped to a draw thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Ao Tanaka.

The snubs clearly rattled the winger, who gave a bombshell interview after the game in which he claimed he was being scapegoated for the club’s recent struggles.

He said: “I’m very, very disappointed. I have done so much for this club.

“Everybody can see that during the years and especially last season.

“It seems like the club is throwing me under the bus. That’s how I feel.

“It’s very clear that someone wants me to get all the blame.”

Salah also slammed manager Arne Slot for a breakdown in communications between them, before suggesting someone at the club is actively trying to get rid of him.

He continued: “I said many times before I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why.

“It seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.

“It’s not acceptable for me. I don’t know why that happened always to me, I don’t get it. If I was somewhere else, the club will protect its player.

“It’s like you throw him under the bus because he’s a problem in the team now but I don’t think I’m the problem.

“I have done so much for this club to get the respect I want and I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position because I earn it.”

As a result, Liverpool decided to omit Salah from the squad for their Champions League clash.

What did Jamie Carragher say?

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher launched a blistering attack on Mo Salah following the Liverpool star’s explosive rant.

During Salah’s rant, the Kop superstar said: “I’m sorry, I know the club too well. I’ve been here many years.

“So tomorrow you’re going to find Carragher is going to go for me again, again, again. That’s fine.”

Responding on Sky Sports, Carra pulled no punches, saying: “I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game.

“Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I don’t think it was.

“I think whenever Mo Salah stops in the mixed zone, which he’s done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it’s choreographed between him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position.”

On the timing of Salah’s comments, Carragher added: “He did that 12 months ago and I called him out on this show about it. He played on the heartstrings of the Liverpool supporters.

“Liverpool were top of the league and he’d scored the winning goal at Southampton. That was the time to come out and put pressure on the Liverpool ownership.

“So, for the rest of the season you have banners in the crowd saying ‘Give Mo his dough’.

“He’s chosen this weekend to do this now and he’s waited for a bad result, they’ve conceded a last minute goal.

“The Liverpool supporters, the manager, the whole club feels like it is in the gutter at the moment, and he’s chosen that time to go for the manager and maybe try and get him sacked.

“That’s the way I felt about it.”
