JAMIE CARRAGHER sparked one of “the most wholesome” moments on TV as he called his mum live on air.
Carragher, 47, was appearing on the CBS Sports Champions League show panel alongside Micah Richards, Thierry Henry and presenter Kate Scott.
The former Liverpool defender watched his old club win 3-0 during their visit to Marseille in the penultimate Champions League league phase game.
It moved Liverpool to fourth in the league table and, barring disaster in the final game at Anfield against Qarabag, put them in a great position to qualify straight into the last 16.
Following the match Carragher revealed he had received a text message from his mum, Paula, which said: “Oh my god what a win. Been to the theatre with Angela. Just seen the score, made up.”
Originally he was going to just text her back, but after Richards insisted Carragher gave in and called her.

Carragher placed the call on speaker, which revealed Paula had seen the Scouse Christmas Carol play.
He then told her she was currently on TV in America, to which she replied: “You’re joking me,” leaving the studio in stitches.
Richards, 37, then took the phone from Carragher to say hello, introducing himself as “Big Meeks” before asking if she knew who he was.
Paula could be heard saying: “Oh get away, I feel embarrassed now.”

Carragher then said who he was with in the CBS studio, which prompted ex-Arsenal and Barcelona star Henry to say: “Hello mummy, how are you?”
And in a hilarious error, Paula was heard calling the 48-year-old “Tiary”.
She then apologised to Carragher, saying she would put the phone down, admitting when asked that she had enjoyed a couple drinks.
Paula signed off by saying, “Good night America”.
Fans online loved the exchange, with one saying: “Really wholesome.”

The win over the Ligue 1 side was a welcome respite from a frustrating few weeks domestically for Liverpool, who have only managed to beat Barnsley in the FA Cup third round in 2026.
They have not won a Prem game since beating Wolves on December 27, picking up four draws in a row.
