Patchy Mix’s struggles continue.

In his first fight after a rough 0-2 UFC run, the former Bellator bantamweight champion faced 19-year-old Kyoma Akimoto at Saturday’s RIZIN 52 event in Tokyo. Mix was finished for the first time in his career after getting dropped in Round 2 and then eating a pair of soccer kicks to suffer his third straight loss.

Check out highlights of the fight, along with the brutal finish below.

Mix entered the fight as a massive favorite, but things turned in the closing minute of the first round as he was knocked down twice, and ate a barrage of knees and soccer kicks before he was saved by the bell. A little over 30 seconds into the second round, Mix was dropped for a third time in the fight before two brutal soccer kicks led to the referee stopping the fight.

The 32-year-old Mix parted ways with PFL in 2025 before signing with the UFC and taking a short-notice fight against Mario Bautista at UFC 316 this past June, with Bautista picking up a dominant decision win. In his sophomore appearance, Mix lost a decision to Jakub Wiklacz at UFC 320 in October and was subsequently released.

Akimoto showed he’s one of the bright stars in the sport, earning his fifth straight win, and fourth straight stoppage victory—putting away all of those opponents inside of two rounds—to improve his pro record to 12-1 overall.
