Anthony Taylor put on a show at Saturday’s Misfits Boxing: Eddie Hall vs. Tommy Fury event, but probably not the kind he wanted to.

The light heavyweight champion’s title defense ended in a disappointing no-contest after Taylor was rendered unable to continue as he complained of an eye injury in the fifth round. A Matty Floyd jab appeared to stun Taylor, who retreated and then loudly protested an issue with his eye. Eventually, the bout was waved off and the bout was ruled a no-contest.

Afterwards, a furious Taylor rushed across the ring to attack Floyd, but was quickly stopped by security and cornermen.

According to the broadcast, Taylor was saying that Floyd may have had Icy Hot on his gloves, which would have aggravated Taylor’s eyes. Taylor remained in hysterics after being separated from Floyd, lying on the mat for a while before being assisted out of the ring.

The close contest was full of tense moments, including Taylor delivering a push to Floyd at the end of a round.

Taylor fails to score his first win since 2024, but still leaves Manchester, England, with his title in hand.
