Joanderson Brito takes on a fresh face this Saturday at UFC Vegas 112.
MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck and Guilherme Cruz confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Brito (17-5-1) is now set to fight octagon newcomer Isaac Thomson (9-2) at UFC APEX in Las Vegas this Saturday. Thomson steps in as a replacement on four days’ notice for Melsik Baghdasaryan, who withdrew from the bout for undisclosed reasons.
The change was first reported by Ag. Fight. Thomson also announced his signing on social media.
The 23-year-old Thomson (9-2) has been a standout in LFA since 2021, winning seven of nine fights for the Texas-based promotion, including his last three. He most recently competed in October, when he won a split decision over Akbarjon Islomboev.
Brito, 30, battled his way to the cusp of the featherweight top 10 with a five-fight win streak from 2022-2024, including key wins over Jack Shore, Jonathan Pearce, and Andre Fili. However, he’s currently in need of a win after dropping his past two fights including a unanimous decision loss Pat Sabatini this past April.
UFC Vegas 112 is headlined by a flyweight contender bout between Manel Kape and Brandon Royval.
