CAFU enjoyed a trophy-laden career on the football pitch – and he is now preparing to show off his skills on the basketball court.

The Brazilian, 55, has been announced as a shock name who will be involved in the NBA’s All-Star Celebrity Game on February 15.

He hung up his boots in 2008, ending a trophy-laden career which saw him lift the World Cup twice.

But Cafu has decided to make a surprise sport switch after signing up to shoot some hoops.

The All-Star Celebrity Game is expected to be watched by close to FIVE MILLION fans.

And Cafu is set to be joined on the court by some other huge names in the sporting world.

He will be coached by the likes of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and World Series-winning baseball icon Mookie Betts at the Intuit Dome.

Cafu is on course to have former Boston Celtics man Tacko Fall and Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St Brown among his team-mates.

The legendary right-back featured for the likes of AC Milan, Roma and Sao Paulo.

He got his hands on the Champions League, Serie A title, the Italian Super Cup, the Club World Cup and two Super Cups at the San Siro.

He also lifted silverware in his homeland with Sao Paulo, while he bagged two Copa America crowns and the 1997 Confederations Cup on international duty.

A whopping 4.72 million people tuned in for last year’s All-Star Celebrity Game.

Cafu was forced to auction off his mansion in Sao Paulo for £4million to help settle his massive debts in 2023.

He had originally been looking for £6.5m – but he was given just 45 days to leave the property when a judge confirmed the sale.

The All-Star Celebrity Game was first staged by the NBA in 2003 – when the likes of Justin Timberlake and Jamie Foxx were on the court.
