TWO fans died after suffering cardiac arrests at the ATP Finals on Monday, tennis officials have confirmed.
The devastating incidents occurred separately during day two of the ATP’s showpiece event at Turin’s Inalpi Arena.
Despite the best efforts of officials on site, spectators aged 70 and 78 tragically passed away.
A joint statement read: “The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) and the ATP express their deepest condolences following the tragic passing of two spectators yesterday during the ATP Finals in Turin.
“On-site medical and emergency personnel responded immediately, providing all possible assistance.
“Despite prompt intervention and subsequent transfer to hospital, unfortunately, both sadly passed away.”

Monday’s afternoon session was headlined by the group stage match-up between home hopeful Lorenzo Musetti and former US Open finalist Taylor Fritz.
The contest was momentarily delayed mid-way through, with fans informed that a medical incident had taken place in the crowd.
Day two’s evening session subsequently saw world No1 Jannik Sinner defeat hampered Feliz Auger-Aliassime 7-5 6-1.
The ATP Finals will be familiar to British sports fans, having previously been staged at London‘s 02 Arena between 2009 and 2020.
From 2021 the end of year event, which features the world’s top eight players, was moved to Turin.
This year, the field is made up of Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Fritz, Ben Shelton, Alex de Minaur, Auger-Aliassime and Musetti.
Novak Djokovic had qualified, but was replaced by Musetti at short notice after withdrawing from the tournament with a shoulder issue.
Sinner, who was told by Djokovic that his previous doping ban “will follow him” during a recent interview with Piers Morgan, is the defending champion – having beaten Fritz in last year’s final on home soil.
