Popular heavyweight Tai Tuivasa tries to stop a six-fight losing skid when he returns to action at UFC Perth.
Tuivasa faces Sean Sharaf when the promotion returns to Australia on May 2, the UFC announced Saturday.
Following a five-fight win streak capped off with a brutal knockout over Derrick Lewis in 2022, Tuivasa was nearing title contention, but suffered a loss to Ciryl Gane in his next outing. He then dropped his next five in a row including a decision loss to Tallison Teixeira at UFC 325 in February.
As for Sharaf, he’s currently 0-2 in the UFC with both of his fights ending by knockout. He’ll try to right the ship when he travels to Australia to face Tuivasa in his backyard in May.
The heavyweights join the card headlined by former UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena facing Carlos Prates. Also on the card, one-time UFC flyweight title challenger Steve Erceg returns to action when he faces Tim Elliott.
Following three straight losses, Erceg returned to the win column with a decision victory over Ode Osbourne this past August. He now faces Elliott, who has scored back-to-back submission wins over Kai Asakura and Sumudaerji.
Another local favorite Cam Rowston looks to build on his 2-0 record in the octagon when he faces Robert Bryczek in a middleweight bout. Junior Tafa also joins the card when he faces Kevin Christian at light heavyweight with both fighters looking to get back on track following recent losses.
Jacob Malkoun faces off with submission specialist Gerald Meerschaert in a middleweight fight at UFC Perth. Malkoun has picked up back-to-back wins while Meerschaert has dropped four fights in a row and he’s in desperate need of a win.
