Dana White doesn’t play around when it comes to fighters looking to make a name for themselves off of his name.
At a Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas on Thursday, the UFC CEO was in attendance along with several staff members to watch the action, which included UFC employee Sal Everett scoring a four-second knockout. However, the fighter who raised their profile most that evening was New Jersey’s David Goldenberg, who improved to 3-0 with a win over De’Aundre Tipton and then proceeded to unleash a wild post-fight interview that revolved around him insulting White.
“Hey [UFC executives] Sean Shelby, Hunter Campbell, and who’s the third Musketeer, the bald guy kind of looks like a bloated Mr. Clean?” Goldenberg said. “What’s his name? Dean, Don, Dino? Dana White! Better wake up, motherf*ckers, next big thing is here, so get your checkbook ready, let’s make some money!”
The clip went viral and White later issued a reaction to the bold callout, sounding less than amused by Goldenberg’s temerity.
“Worst fight of the night,” White wrote in a comment on a Happy Punch post of the Goldenberg clip. “Stunk the place up with his performance and then talks like he put on the Fight of the Night. The fight after his was a woman’s fight that made his fight look even shittier. [Smilla Sundell] blows ‘Scrappy Douche’ outta the water!!”
Veteran fighters Damien Brown and Ode Osbourne also commented, with Brown writing, “‘Dumbest call for a shot ever,” and Osbourne writing, “How not to get a UFC contract 101.”
Goldenberg might have drawn the ire of White for now, but the 33-year-old middleweight certainly found the attention he was looking for.
