Sean O’Malley is excited to compete on the upcoming UFC White House card but he might not be quite as enthusiastic about what he’s wearing to the octagon that night.
On Monday, the UFC revealed the new exclusive fight kits made by Venum that the fighters are wearing for the UFC White House card. All 14 fighters scheduled for the event are wearing some version of a red-white and blue uniform to the octagon but the former bantamweight champion was admittedly not that impressed with what he’s expected to wear for his fight against Aiemann Zahabi.
“I don’t even know if I’m supposed to say … they’re ugly,” O’Malley said about his fight kit on his podcast. “Mine were ugly. I don’t like them. They’re not pink, which is fine, whatever, I’ve wore other colors. I’m not going to not show up because my shorts aren’t pink. I’m make my f*cking hair pink whatever.
“But I’m just like did they go on Fiverr and say ‘hey, we got these guys getting into a fight on the White House lawn, can you just come up with something?’ I’m like when I was wearing them they’re white, which is whatever. I love white, Dana White … I just didn’t love them.”
Fiverr is a website where customers can connect with freelancers for any number of tasks — including graphic design — and the cost can sometimes end up quite cheap.
That criticism doesn’t exactly spell excitement for the UFC White House uniforms, but O’Malley promises he’ll make the best out of a bad situation no matter what.
O’Malley’s plans involve slicing and dicing Zahabi during their fight, and he’ll give his UFC White House uniform a new paint job by the time he’s finished working.
“I will say I like the white because I do truly believe I’m going to crack Aiemann,” O’Malley said. “I’m going to bloody his nose. I think I’m going to hit him a lot. I think he’s going to be very tough. I think he’s going to be very durable. I think I’m going to beat the f*ck out of him, kind of like Chris Moutinho-esque. I’m excited for my white shorts to be red.
“I’m going to see how red I can get my white shorts from his blood. But overall, didn’t f*cking love them.”
