Ryan Garcia responded after Devin Haney mocked him on social media, accusing the WBO welterweight champion of using a hookah and claiming the habit will catch up with him when he faces mandatory challenger Keyshawn Davis.
The exchange started after Ariel Helwani shared a clip of Garcia discussing Zuffa Boxing. Ryan praised Dana White’s early work with the promotion. He also said he would keep his own identity instead of dressing like a company spokesman if he ever signed with Zuffa. Haney posted, “Ryan back doing that twitch with his face again.”
Garcia answered with a series of posts on X, insisting Haney has no room to question his professionalism while hiding what Garcia described as his own vice.
“Devin just claimed I’m on some type of bender 😂😂
My dude you smoke hookah you are destroying your lungs you about to get ran over my Keyshawn for all the smoking in those lungs.”
Ryan rejected one fan’s suggestion that he delete the post.
“I got solid proof he smokes hookah as well. So he can’t deny this claim,” said Ryan on X about Haney.
“Nah, he wants to pish the narrative like I’m not some professional while hiding behind his hand, knowing he has vices he’s hiding nah sorry I’m not his friend or his buddy f*** him.”
Ryan also predicted Haney’s hookah use will hurt him when he eventually defends his WBO title against Keyshawn Davis, who became the mandatory challenger after moving up to welterweight.
The latest exchange is another sign the rivalry between the former opponents remains bitter. Their April 2024 bout was later changed to a no contest after Garcia tested positive for Ostarine. Both fighters have continued trading insults as the possibility of a rematch has taken a back seat to other fights.
