Roman Reigns is still World Heavyweight Champion after a wild defense, in front of a super-hot crowd, against Penta in Mexico City on “WWE Raw.” The luchador put up a good fight and hit Reigns with everything he had, but it wasn’t enough to put the “Tribal Chief” down.
Penta started off the match hot, but Reigns kicked out at one after the corner handstand stomp from the former Intercontinental Champion. The men fought back-and-forth until Penta sent Reigns over the top rope, then hit a springboard clothesline. Penta hit the tope con hilo and took the champion down.
The match slowed with Reigns in control, but Penta rallied and sent him crashing face-first into the canvas, and followed up with a backstabber. He hit the Sacrifice in an attempt to neutralize Reigns’ right arm, but it didn’t slow the “OTC” down, as he hit a standing uranage.
Reigns tried to line up the spear, but couldn’t so soon after the Sacrifice. Penta tried to go for a move over the top with Reigns on the apron, and Reigns dropped the luchador to the floor. Reigns power bombed Penta onto the commentary desk, but back in the ring, Penta dodged a Superman punch into the Penta Driver. He looked for the Mexican Destroyer, but walked into another Superman punch.
The champion called for the spear once again, but Penta hurdled it and hit the Mexican Destroyer. Reigns connected with a spear, then grabbed a microphone and demanded Mexico acknowledge him. Reigns ran the ropes for yet another spear, but Penta hit a springboard Mexican Destroyer. Both men had to battle back to their feet, but in the end, Reigns hit a final Superman punch and spear for the win.
