Rolly Romero has little interest in Ryan Garcia claiming he wants the winner of Romero’s fight with Teofimo Lopez, arguing that Garcia already passed on two chances to face him. Romero questioned why Garcia’s name even came up during discussions about his upcoming matchup.

“Didn’t he duck me twice? He ducked me after our direct rematch clause, and he ducked me after he fought Barrios,” Romero said to Fight Hub TV. “You’re going to tell me that this dude wants to fight or he’s just trying to chase whatever clout he can get right now? Same way he calls out everybody in the world and doesn’t fight anybody. Don’t bring up Ryan Garcia. He’s a clout-chasing fool.”

Romero defeated Garcia by unanimous decision in May 2025, dropping him in the second round and controlling enough of the action to win by scores of 115-112 twice and 118-109. A rematch never materialized, and Romero argues that Ryan had another chance after his fight with Mario Barrios but chose a different direction.

Garcia recently mentioned several major names while discussing his future, including the winner of Romero-Lopez. Rolly isn’t buying the latest callout. From his perspective, Garcia had opportunities to pursue the rematch before turning his attention elsewhere.

His immediate concern is Teofimo, who is moving up to welterweight for their August 22 fight in Las Vegas. A Rolly win would give Ryan another reason to call for a rematch, but Romero has already made his position clear. He wants Ryan judged by the opportunities he believes were previously passed up rather than his latest callout.
