Namsrai Batbayar showed it pays to know the rules.

The Mongolian flyweight earned a highlight-reel knockout and won a Road to UFC Season 4 tournament final Friday after landing a knee square to the face of opponent Yin Shuai. What made the finish even more impressive was that Batbayar had Yin in an awkward position against the cage, with one of Yin’s feet pointed almost straight to the ceiling and only one of his hands and feet touching the mat. That meant Yin was not considered a grounded opponent and Batbayar’s winning knee was completely legal.

As soon as Batbayar’s knee landed, Yin could be seen looking to referee Jason Herzog to step in, but Herzog correctly assessed the situation and allowed the action to continue. Batybar then sealed the deal with a few follow-up punches. Yin continued to protest after the bout was officially waved off.

With the win, Batybayar (10-1) caps off an impressive flyweight tournament run, having defeated all three of his opponents by knockout or submission. “Steppe Warrior” has never gone to a decision in his 11-fight career and now looks to bring his exciting style to the UFC octagon.
