UFC 324 just took a major hit.
Bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison has reportedly been knocked out of her scheduled fight against Amanda Nunes after suffered an injury in training that requires surgery.
According to The Eagle Tribune, Harrison was forced to undergo surgery to fix herniated discs in her neck after she flew to New York to seek treatment on her injury prior to the Jan. 24 event in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for Harrison, doctors decided she needed surgery to repair the damage done, forcing her to drop out of her highly anticipated showdown against Nunes.
The UFC is expected to rebook the fight at a later date, but no specific timeline has been set.
The fight between Harrison and Nunes was supposed to serve as the UFC 324 co-main event with Justin Gaethje battling Paddy Pimblett for an interim lightweight title in the headliner.
Nunes announced her intention to return to action and attempt to reclaim the belt she relinquished upon retirement while also taking on a former teammate in Harrison after they previously trained at American Top Team in Florida.
Now Harrison and Nunes have to wait until a later date to settle their differences with the fight scrapped from UFC 324.
