Ray Sefo has parted ways with the PFL.
The legendary kickboxer turned combat sports executive, who served as the president of World Series of Fighting before joining the PFL in the same role, has left the organization. Details about his exit have not been made public yet but sources confirmed to MMA Fighting that Sefo is no longer working with the promotion. Yahoo Sports first reported the news.
Perhaps best known for his kickboxing career, Sefo transitioned into coaching when he was done fighting while working primarily out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.
He eventually started working with World Series of Fighting, which is also where his final fight took place back in 2013, although Sefo didn’t officially announce his retirement until years later.
When PFL launched with many of the same pieces from World Series of Fighting, Sefo remained with the organization, working behind the scenes and remaining a top executive with the company.
Now Sefo has exited the PFL as the promotion continues to undergo internal changes, which included hiring former ex-Turner and Time Warner executive John Martin as CEO and the recent departure of former PFL CEO Peter Murray.
There’s little doubt that 2026 is one of the most crucial times in history for the PFL as the promotion’s current broadcast deal with ESPN comes to a close at year’s end. Negotiations on a new broadcast deal are expected to start later this year but it remains to be seen if PFL sticks with ESPN or finds a new partner in the ever changing television and streaming landscape.
