PATRICK BAMFORD is in talks to make a return to the English game months after leaving long-term club Leeds.

The once-capped former England international is in talks with struggling Championship side Sheffield United, per reports from the Telegraph.

The Blades have endured an awful start to the season, currently sitting in 22nd on just 10 points from 15 games.

They were forced to sack manager Ruben Selles after he lost all six of his games in charge to start the season, replacing him with Chris Wilder for his third stint at Bramall Lane.

And now it seems that Wilder has identified Bamford, 32, as an option to bolster his attack.

But it could be an awkward reunion for the pair, after Bamford kicked off an x-rated chant aimed at Wilder after Leeds pipped his Blades side to promotion in April.

He started a chant in which fans label the English boss, 58, a “W***er,” but Wilder’s classy reaction to the moment would suggest there won’t be any conflict over the matter should Bamford sign under his supervision.

Bamford called Wilder up in the wake of the event, with the older man then telling press: “I had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I’ve no issue at all with it.

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2 – all the info

TIME for round two of this generation’s family feud!

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn go punch-for-punch once again as both rivals look to make their fathers proud.

The blockbuster rematch takes place at the 62,000-seater Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, November 15.

Eubank Jr narrowly outpointed his bitter foe after 12 brutal rounds in April to secure the bragging rights in what was certainly a Fight of the Year contender.

And the two British superstars will dance once more as Eubank Jr aims to do the double while Benn seeks revenge after suffering a first career loss.

“I’m not sure about the words from a fellow pro, but I appreciate and respected him giving me a call and we had 20 minutes.”

Bamford would join a striking department that already includes former Southampton star Danny Ings, Tyrese Campbell and Tom Cannon.

Bamford made over two hundred appearances for Leeds United in a seven-year spell between 2018 and 2025.

His impressive performances in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season, in which he managed 26 goal contributions across 38 games, earned him a call-up to the England squad, and some had tipped him for a big transfer.

But a series of serious injuries meant he was only able to make nine Prem appearances the following season, and signalled the start of a steady decline.

He seemed set to be handed another chance in the division when Leeds topped the Championship and earned promotion to the Prem earlier this year.

But Leeds boss Daniel Farke snubbed those aspirations five months ago when he told Bamford that he was not part of his plans, just days into his side’s pre-season preparations.

Recent months have seen him linked to a variety of clubs, including a move to up-and-coming Wrexham or a shock trip abroad to Spanish outfit Getafe.

He was even reportedly spotted at the training ground of Frank Lampard‘s Coventry City last month as he ramped up efforts to get himself back in the game.
