Foster came out aggressively from the start, taking the fight to the southpaw challenger instead of waiting to counter. The fight reached the final bell without a knockdown. Outside of the opening-round ropes incident, neither fighter came close to ending matters early. Instead, the bout became a tactical contest built around positioning, counters, and timing.
When the scores were announced, Foster retained his title by majority decision, improving to 25-3. Fighting in front of his hometown fans, he celebrated inside the ring before turning his attention to potential future opportunities, including unification fights and a possible showdown with Shakur Stevenson.
Ford came up short on the cards, but the performance reinforced that he belongs among the top fighters at 130 pounds. He had success throughout the fight and remained competitive, but Foster’s adjustments and stronger middle rounds ultimately made the difference.
