Nate Diaz is interested in returning to the UFC for “real action” fights, and he has three names in mind.
The former UFC lightweight contender last entered competition in July 2024, defeating Jorge Masvidal via majority decision in a boxing match to get back for their original BMF bout in the UFC. The Stockton star hasn’t fought under the UFC banner since tapping out Tony Ferguson to then part ways with the promotion in September 2022.
“I’m ready to get back in real action,” Diaz told red carpet reporters recently (via TMZ Sports). “I want to fight either McGregor 3. I wanna fight maybe Dustin Poirier, if he stops being such a p*ssy, and then maybe Mike Perry. We’ll see what happens in the future.”
Diaz and McGregor fought twice under the UFC banner, with a win for each, but the Irishman hasn’t fought since losing to Poirier in July 2021.
Poirier lost back-to-back title bouts in his last UFC appearances, finished by Islam Makhachev and then going to a decision with BMF titleholder Max Holloway.
Perry found a successful career in bare-knuckle boxing after being released from the UFC in 2021, going 6-0 inside the BKFC ring with wins over the likes of Eddie Alvarez, Luke Rockhold, Michael Page and Jeremy Stephens. “Platinum” fought once in boxing, losing by knockout to Jake Paul.
Not only looking for the biggest match-up possible for an eventual UFC record, Diaz is also down for the biggest stages, too.
“That would be dope, too,” Diaz said when asked if he’s interested in being part of the UFC show on the White House on June 14.
Poirier responded to the possible news on Twitter Monday morning.
