MYLES LEWIS-SKELLY received some good-natured ribbing when he was always the last one out at Arsenal’s training.

It was not down to bad timekeeping but because the teenage left-back was spending too much time adjusting his SOCKS.

Lewis-Skelly, like 99 per cent of other professional players, does not actually wear traditional socks that are sold with replica kits.

Players wear tube socks, also known as sleeves, in the club’s colours.  They are missing the foot and heel because professionals do not like the thickness of socks because their boots are so tight so instead, they have thinner, inner socks.

Lewis-Skelly has been finding that his large inner socks were taking too much adjusting while his team-mates were trotting out to action at London Colney.

So now, the defender has decided to have smaller inner socks which needed less adjusting – and Lewis-Skelly is no longer the last out at training.

Another popular change for players are inner socks with latex pads both along the feet and heel which helps lock players feet in place and so eliminates heel lift.

It might sound nonsense to some but as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would say, it is all about fine margins.

FLAT BATTERY

SOME Arsenal fans had a nightmare at Sunderland on Saturday night as their phone chargers and power banks were confiscated before going into the away end. And they were not given them back afterwards.

So if Sunderland insist on electronic ticketing, which is obviously the way forward for all clubs, then they should at least allow supporters to charge their phones.

Any fears that Arsenal’s supporters would start throwing their chargers over the top tier onto the home fans is ridiculous.

And you can hardly blame the club’s fans for wanting to charge their phones as it is one of the longest trips of the season from London.

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2 – all the info

TIME for round two of this generation’s family feud!

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn go punch-for-punch once again as both rivals look to make their fathers proud.

The blockbuster rematch takes place at the 62,000-seater Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, November 15.

Eubank Jr narrowly outpointed his bitter foe after 12 brutal rounds in April to secure the bragging rights in what was certainly a Fight of the Year contender.

And the two British superstars will dance once more as Eubank Jr aims to do the double while Benn seeks revenge after suffering a first career loss.

One fan told SunSport: “The phone charger thing was madness.

“They had told us about power banks but Sunderland is miles from London, it’s a long day, and our ticket is on our phone so I’d say if the KO was 8pm, many more phones would have died.”

FAMILIAR FACES

BUKAYO SAKA is loving the fact there are so many Arsenal players in and around the England squad.

He is joined in this squad by Declan Rice and Eberechi Eze while Myles Lewis-Skelly, the injured Noni Madueke and Ben White also have a chance of playing at the World Cup.

Saka said: “ It says a lot. We have a lot of players coming to the national team, not just for England. We have a lot of other national team players.

“So it speaks about the strength in our team. Of course here as well. Both teams are in a good place I think.”

Saka, though, is refusing to make Arsenal favourites for the title.

Saka was asked about his hopes of the title while on international duty with England this week. He said: “That’s for other people to say. We just have to win every game, that’s the mentality we go into the games with.

“See where it leaves us, we can’t get carried away with what people are saying. Because one day they’ll say something, the next day they’ll say something different.”

Yet asked whether he watched Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Liverpool, he said: “No, I didn’t watch it.”

TICKING OFF

ARSENAL are once again trying to crack down on companies using fake membership to land tickets.

The club have this season cancelled over 30,000 bot memberships which cost £34 a time.
