UCAM Murcia beat first-seeded Unicaja Malaga for the second time in a row on the road to go up 2-0 in the Spanish ACB League semifinals and get one win away from making the title series for the first time in club history.
Rodions Kurucs had 21 points as Murcia defeated Malaga 83 – 101 thanks to a particularly powerful performance in the second half. With Kurucs dropping 13 of his points in the third quarter, the visiting side stormed out of the locker room 30 – 16 in the third period to assume a 61 – 74 lead and never look back.
Dustin Sleva had 16 points for Murcia, Yannis Morin got 15 points and five rebounds while Ludde Hakanson posted 14 points six rebounds and six assists.
Alberto Diaz led Malaga with 15 points. The Andalusian team and reigning Basketball Champions League champs were up 48 – 44 early in the third quarter but was overwhelmed by Murcia and didn’t manage to recover. They will now travel to Murcia with their backs against the wall.
