Jiri Prochazka believes Alex Pereira is going to make history this summer.
At UFC White House, Pereira challenges Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title, attempting to become the first fighter to win titles in three UFC weight classes. And his former foe, Prochazka, believes “Poatan” is in good shape to get that done.
”I believe Alex can do that,” Prochazka said on Adin Ross’ Kick stream. “Alex can do that, especially when I saw him, how his weight is going up. He’s strong enough, too, and in the stand-up, I believe he will be better. But Gane is a lot of movement for that.”
Prochazka has a lot of experience with Pereira, having fought him twice for the light heavyweight title, losing both times. Those remain the only losses on Prochazka’s UFC résumé right now, and while Prochazka says he’s not currently looking for revenge, he’s open to chasing Poatan up to heavyweight in the future.
“No, I think I have to go to heavyweight,” Prochazka told MMA Junkie. “I really don’t care which weight I’m fighting, but I believe every time light heavyweight shows my best shape. When I fought in Rizin in Japan, I fought with the heavyweight guys many times. I can push my body to show bigger strength and be able to fight with these types of guys, with these heavyweights, and still be faster, still have more endurance, precise, all these things. So it’s a really good idea for me.”
But before he can do that, Prochazka has other business to attend to. This Saturday, Prochazka challenges Carlos Ulberg for the light heavyweight title that Pereira vacated to move up to heavyweight, fighting Ulberg in the main event of UFC 327, which takes place at Kaseya Center in Miami.

Could GSP get a win in the UFC today?
I love Jiri like a family member, but I don’t need him to move up to heavyweight. Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I’m thoroughly exhausted by every champion in the UFC having no interest in title defenses. We need more Merabs.
