Brendan Schaub doesn’t want to hear anything else from Ian Machado Garry.

Next month, Garry challenges Islam Makhachev for the UFC welterweight title in the main event of UFC 330. It’s Garry’s first shot at a UFC title, and in the run-up to the event, “The Future” has done several interviews, promoting himself and the event, including one where a clip went viral among the MMA community after Garry claimed that the world would be better off if women ruled it.

And that sent Schaub spiraling.

“I’m a fan of Ian Machado Garry when he fights. … Ian Garry, when he fights, is one of the most talented dudes in the UFC,” Schaub said on his YouTube channel. “I’ve been glazing him for how many years? Ian Garry is so talented inside that octagon. Nightmare matchup for guys. Not a finisher, stylistically a nightmare matchup for everyone, including Islam Makhachev. This is a fact. It’s not going to be an easy fight.

“That being said, outside of the octagon, he might have the worst interviews I’ve ever seen. His PR is so bad. He’s the only guy I’d ever go, ‘Let’s not do any promo for this fight. You’re turning everybody off.’ It’s so bad. It’s so bad. …

“This is coming from a fan. You’ve got to tighten your ship up, pal. You are NOT doing well in this PR game. Doing great in the UFC, but as far as PR goes, bro, could there be a worse interview? God damn, he’s bad. …

“Do you know the UFC fanbase? And someone was like, ‘Yeah, he’s trolling when he [says] the world would be so much better if it was ran by women.’ Hey man, I’m sure you and your wife talk about things at night; that doesn’t mean you should use it to promote a cage fight against the No. 1 pound-for-pound guy in the world. He should only be allowed to talk about fighting.

“You know how people told LeBron James, ‘Shut up and dribble’? I never agreed with that. Like, come on man, they’re people, too. You’ve got to let them express themselves. Until I heard Ian Garry do an interview. I’m like, ‘Shut up and fight.’ Shut up and fight, because you’re turning everybody off.”

Garry faces Makhachev on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Anthony Smith knews, if true, is terrible. I wish this sport and the people in it were better. Alas.
