MICHAEL CARRICK has made a notable change to Manchester United’s weekly training schedule.

United players are now allocated a day off the day after matches, a break in post-match routine from the Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim eras.

Ten Hag and Amorim insisted on recovery days the day after games, with those who had not played at least 45 minutes put through a full training session.

Yet Carrick has decided to give United players a day the next day off following fixtures, with recovery sessions taking place the day the players report back at the club’s Carrington training complex.

Carrick has already imposed himself as head coach, shortening United’s training days but upping the intensity of sessions.

There has been a greater focus on individual work with specific players, with former defenders Jonathan Woodgate and Jonny Evans working with the centre backs on their technique.
