David Federman, one of the owners of Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club and a central figure in the club’s rise into a European powerhouse, has passed away at the age of 81.

Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club announces with deep sorrow the passing of David Federman, one of the club’s owners, who passed away early this morning at his home, surrounded by his wife and children, at the age of 81.

Federman was a true Maccabi supporter and a lifelong devotee of Maccabi Tel Aviv, a central and influential figure in the club’s family for decades.

He guided Maccabi Tel Aviv with dedication, love, and deep commitment. A man of integrity, a proud Israeli, and a lover of people, his leadership and immense contribution to Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Israeli sports community will be remembered forever.

Maccabi Tel Aviv extends its heartfelt condolences to the Federman family and shares in their profound grief.

Federman was born in Tel Aviv in 1944 into a family deeply connected to the club. Over several decades, he became one of the most influential figures in Maccabi Tel Aviv’s management, playing a key role during an era in which the team captured numerous domestic titles and European championships.

Beyond basketball, Federman was a prominent businessman, with major roles in companies such as Elite—Maccabi’s longtime main sponsor—as well as in media and industry. His impact was felt both on and off the court, helping shape the club’s stability, identity, and international stature.
