Behind a dominant performance from Slovenian guard Luka Doncic, the Los Angeles Lakers extended their winning streak to seven games with a 124-116 victory over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. The 27-year-old playmaker fell just one rebound shy of a triple-double, recording 40 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds in 38 minutes of action.
The victory marks the 10th win in 11 games, moving them to a 44-25 record in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season as they solidify their position for the Playoffs 2026. LeBron James provided critical support, finishing with 30 points on an efficient 13-of-14 shooting performance.
The game remained competitive into the final minutes, with the teams exchanging 13 lead changes. With approximately 90 seconds remaining and the Lakers leading by four, Doncic orchestrated the decisive sequence by finding James for an alley-oop dunk. After a turnover by Houston’s Kevin Durant on the ensuing possession, the Ljubljana native sealed the win with a 26-foot three-pointer to push the lead to nine points.
The team coached by JJ Redick prevailed despite the continued absence of German forward Maxi Kleber, who remains sidelined with a lumbar back strain.
On the losing side, Turkish Alperen Sengun impressed in his return from a two-game absence, tallying a 27-point, 10-assist double-double. With the starting center back in action, Swiss veteran Clint Capela was held to three fruitless minutes for Ime Udoka’s squad, which fell to 41-27.
