Lerone Murphy didn’t just lose a close one this past weekend – he also lost some time.

On Saturday, Murphy fell short in the main event of UFC London, dropping a majority decision to Movsar Evloev in a closely contested fight. Immediately after the fight, Murphy said his “hip popped” in the middle of the fight, and now, we know what exactly happened.

On Monday, Murphy posted a story to his Instagram revealing that he tore his hip flexor muscle in the fourth round of the fight with Evloev.

It’s unclear how severe the injury is or an exact timeline for Murphy’s recovery, but per the American Hip Institute, most hip flexor injuries recover in a matter of weeks.

So, for the time being, Murphy will have to take it easy, and “The Miracle” used some of his newfound downtime to rewatch his battle with Evloev. And while he still gives Evloev props, upon watching the fight, Murphy believes he either should have won, or it should have been a draw. Either way, once he’s recovered, Murphy promises a big return.

“I loved every second of the fight. I thought I done enough to take the first 3 rounds although it was close. A draw at the very least with the point deduction but on to the next. Movsar fought a smart fight and didn’t give me many openings. I could have created a bit more chaos. I hope we can run this back at some point. I’LL BE BACK WITH A VENGEANCE.”
