Klay Thompson is on his way out of the Dallas Mavericks, and the five-time All-Star is expected to change teams.
Christian Clark of The Athletic reports that Thompson is close to leaving, with the most interested suitor being the Los Angeles Lakers, who are beginning a new era without LeBron James, led by Luka Doncic.
For a long time, the Miami Heat were considered the first option for Thompson, but in the last 24 hours the Lakers appear to have strongly entered the race for the 36-year-old shooting guard, who was born in Los Angeles. However, nothing can be ruled out at this point in time, as both teams need a shooter and Thompson is still one of the best in the league.
Klay Thompson entered the league in 2011 and was part of the Golden State Warriors until 2024. With the dynasty he helped build, Golden State won four NBA titles before he moved to the Dallas Mavericks in 2024.
