Conor Benn’s manager, Keith Connolly, says Benn has already signed for a proposed September showdown with Ryan Garcia and believes an official announcement could be getting closer.

The fight has been the subject of ongoing speculation for weeks, with reports linking the pair to a September 12 clash. While questions remain about broadcast arrangements and promotional issues, Connolly indicated that progress has been made behind the scenes.

“We’ve signed on our side. I think Ryan’s accepted it, too. I think they’re working out some issues with the networks. I don’t really want to talk about that. That’s a different area. I have my guy signed for the fight and ready to go, and I think we’ll hear some positive news in the next couple of weeks,” said Connolly to Ring Magazine.

The comments come amid continued uncertainty surrounding the event. Golden Boy Promotions previously raised objections regarding Ryan’s involvement in a fight outside its promotional structure, while questions have also surrounded the broadcast platform.

When pressed on whether a television deal had been finalized, Connolly declined to discuss the matter, repeating that his focus is on Benn being ready for the fight.

Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) last fought on April 11, defeating Regis Prograis by unanimous decision over 10 rounds at a Zuffa event in London. Ryan was last in action on February 21, when he defeated WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.

While questions remain about the event’s broadcast arrangements, Connolly’s comments indicate that both fighters have moved significantly closer to finalizing the bout. An announcement could follow if the remaining issues are resolved in the coming weeks.
