Arturas Karnisovas faces an increasingly precarious future as the Chicago Bulls organization enters a defining ten-day window that could result in a total structural overhaul. According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, ownership is currently considering every option on the table, leaving both the executive vice president of basketball operations and head coach Billy Donovan in a state of uncertainty as the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season draws to a close.
Pressure continues to mount on the 54-year-old Lithuanian executive, with pivotal franchise meetings scheduled to determine whether he will be retained to lead the team’s direction. This scrutiny follows a disappointing stretch, with the eighth time in the past nine seasons that Chicago has missed the playoffs. While ownership previously maintained a hands-off approach, leaving Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley to resolve roster issues, the front office now faces the possibility of a complete purge.
Furthermore, the Bulls fell to 29-49 following a 120-110 loss to the Phoenix Suns at United Center on Sunday. The team’s European contingent was limited to France’s Guerschon Yabusele, since Lithuanian Matas Buzelis was unavailable due to illness, and Frenchman Noa Essengue remained out following left shoulder surgery. The 30-year-old forward tallied eight points, nine rebounds, and one assist in 33 minutes of action.
Karnisovas arrived in Chicago in 2020 following a highly successful tenure as the general manager of the Denver Nuggets, where he was credited with scouting and drafting Nikola Jokic as the assistant GM. Following a legendary playing career in Europe, he worked in the NBA league office before transitioning to the Houston Rockets as a scout between 2008 and 2013, and went on to the Nuggets from 2013 to 2020.
