Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor starred in an unprecedented world tour to promote their UFC 189 title bout in July 2015, for which Aldo ended up withdrawing due to injury, and there was some legit heat before the two featherweight stars. Eleven years later, the Brazilian said on Fut&Papo that McGregor was on a bender off camera at the time.

“It was a whole month promoting the fight,” Aldo said. “When the camera was on, f*ck. And [off camera] he was going crazy. Sniffing and drinking all the time. Crazy stuff.”

Aldo and McGregor hosted press conferences between March 20 and 31 of that year, traveling from Brazil to Ireland with five stops in the United States, Canada and England in between, to help build one of the greatest MMA rivalries all-time.

They ended up fighting in December of that year, with “The Notorious” winning by knockout in just 13 seconds. Aldo said he now has a good relationship with the Irishman and often exchange messages on Instagram about family and life.

According to Aldo, McGregor was also partying while shooting the 22nd season of The Ultimate Fighter opposite Urijah Faber.

“He would just show up and not even train the fighters and say, ‘They are ready,’” Aldo said. “It was partying all day. Completely crazy.”
