Joe Rogan might be a little nervous calling the fights for the upcoming UFC White House card.
As Operation Epic Fury continues to unfold after U.S. forces led an attack on Iran, the whole world is watching to see how long this conflict might actually last. With the UFC planning a major event at the White House in June, Rogan can’t help but wonder if the timing is right for that card, especially amid security concerns for possible retaliation taking place on U.S. soil.
The FBI actually issued a warning to police in California before the U.S. attacks that Iran “aspired” to potentially target the state with drones.
“I’m [excited],” Rogan said about the UFC White House card on his podcast. “It sounds crazy. It’s going to be very high security and high stress and weird to have a fight at the White House in the middle of a f*cking war. I would hope the war will be sorted out by June, but quite honestly, I’m not confident that’s going to be the case.
“That will be weird, having this very high-profile event where everybody is in one place at one time right there.”
UFC officials have remarked numerous times about the high levels of security being put in place for the event. No tickets are being sold, with approximately 5,000 people expected to attend the event on June 14 as invited guests for the card.
Rogan couldn’t help but wonder if an event like that presents potential danger to anyone and everyone attending.
“It seems like you’re asking [for trouble],” Rogan said. “How can you not think of that?”
Prior to his comments about the UFC White House card, Rogan had criticized President Donald Trump for getting the U.S. involved in the conflict with Iran. Rogan, who hosted Trump on his podcast before offering his endorsement ahead of the 2020 election, admitted he was disappointed with the president’s decision to launch the attack on Iran.
“It just seems so insane,” Rogan said about the conflict. “He ran on no more wars. End these stupid, senseless wars. And then we have one that we can’t even really clearly define why we did it.”
