New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson attempted to return from a multi-week knee injury in Week 10. Though the Jets upset the Cleveland Browns 27-20, it wasn’t all positive.
Wilson exited the contest after suffering a setback with his knee. He’s almost certainly headed for another multi-week stint on the sidelines.
The Jets (2-7) are on a short week. Wilson is incredibly unlikely to play versus the New England Patriots (8-2) on “Thursday Night Football.”
Wilson’s latest injury should encourage the Jets to get newly acquired wide receiver Adonai Mitchell up to speed.
Mitchell arrived in the blockbuster trade with the Indianapolis Colts that included Sauce Gardner and multiple first-round picks.
he Jets are excited to get Mitchell, a 2024 second-round selection. Mitchell was inactive against the Browns as he continued learning Tanner Engstrand’s playbook.
The Jets’ passing game was nonexistent on Sunday. Justin Fields was 6-of-11 for 54 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. No Jets wide receiver had more than four receiving yards. Fellow recent acquisition John Metchie III had one catch for three yards.
It’s painfully obvious the Jets lack pass-catching depth behind Wilson. Hopefully Mitchell will help solve a long-term problem on offense. Wilson’s latest injury adds urgency to getting Mitchell into the lineup, though he’s racing against the clock on a short week.
Jets Wire will continue to provide updates as information is made available.
