The scheduled July 20th PPV fight between YouTuber Jake Paul and former unified heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has been postponed due to Tyson’s ulcer acting up.

In a statement, 57-year-old Tyson says that because of his ulcer problem, his doctor advised him to “lighten” his training for a few weeks. Tyson maintains that he’s been in the best shape since the 1990s. That’s hard to believe.

Obviously, Tyson isn’t the young lion he was in the 1990s, and he’s going to need to take it easy for a while to get his health together. The fight is still on, but a new date is expected to be announced next week. When the fight does happen, it’ll be shown on Netflix PPV from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Tyson’s Health Takes Priority

Mike says his doctor has told him to stop training until his ulcer condition improves. It’s unclear whether Tyson’s ulcer problem will improve in three weeks, as some of those problems can take many weeks.

Jake Paul, 27, is still eager to fight Tyson despite his physical problems. Boxing fans on social media are recommending that the fight be canceled and that Jake focuses on fighting younger fighters. He’s not going to do that because Tyson is a huge name that can bring in huge paychecks.

Fans criticize Jake for fighting many older, washed-up former stars and not facing relevant talents. For example, these are some of the ages of Jake’s opponents during the last three years:

– Nate Diaz: 39
– Tyrone Woodley: 42
– Anderson Silva: 49
– Ben Askren: 39
– Nate Robinson: 40

New Fight Date to Be Announced

A new date will be announced next week for the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. Neither of these guys is giving up on this boxing event, which isn’t surprising because it’s likely to give them big paydays.

Influencer Jake has 26 million Instagram followers, which is a large pool of potential people to purchase his fight against Mike Tyson. That’s just Instagram. Jake also has 4.5 million followers on X, and 20.7 million followers on his YouTube channel.

With that kind of massive following, Jake makes big bank fighting anybody, but the dough he can get fighting the legend Mike Tyson is astronomical.
