Dusko Ivanovic returned to the EuroLeague with a win over his former team, Baskonia. But it wasn’t just any victory; it was a dramatic one on his debut as Virtus Bologna’s head coach.
The experienced coach secured the win thanks to Will Clyburn’s heroics in the final seconds. The US forward executed a crucial four-point play to turn the game around and help his team end their losing streak.
After the match, Ivanovic shared his thoughts on the game and Clyburn’s decisive play.
“We were lucky, but it was an incredible victory. This is basketball: believe and fight until the last second of the game. A clear example,” said Dusko Ivanovic briefly.
Ivanovic took over Virtus last week but couldn’t lead the team against Crvena Zvezda in EuroLeague Round 14 or against Olimpia Milano in Lega Basket over the weekend. He finally made his debut against Baskonia and started his tenure with a much-needed victory.
Virtus Bologna is now 3-12 in the EuroLeague standings, but 1-0 with Dusko at the wheel.
