A hard-hitting defensive slugfest sees the Ohio State Buckeyes trail the Indiana Hoosiersearly in the third quarter, but the Hoosiers may need extra juice thanks to a big injury offensively.

In the first quarter with the Hoosiers driving, wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. underwent a knee and ankle issue on an incomplete pass from quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

According to Fox Sports sideline reporter Jenny Taft, Cooper’s status to return is uncertain, officially noting it as questionable.

“It’s a lower body injury, Gus,” Taft said. “They’ve been examining his right leg, his right side, his knee, his ankle.”

Cooper Jr. still remains out of the game, as social media is blown away by the way the Hoosiers have stepped up to take a mid-third-quarter lead, 13-10.

“Indiana finally completes a drive. Fernando Mendoza and his receivers stepping up in a big way, especially with Omar Cooper Jr. still out,” ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg wrote. “Hoosiers in front 13-10, and Ohio State has its first second half deficit of the season.”

The go-ahead touchdown came courtesy of wide reciever Elijah Sarratt, as the Buckeyes attempt to play from behind for the first time.

Ohio State is in the middle of a productive offensive series, inching closer to retaking the lead.
