Valencia ended their EuroLeague losing streak by defeating Hapoel 104-99 on the road in overtime in Round 27.

A great game was played in Israel, with Hapoel leading for most of the time but allowing Pedro Martinez’s team to get back in the game and secure a victory after an additional five minutes.

Following the match, Dimitris Itoudis addressed the media, emphasizing that his team is going through a tough period but they will find a solution.

“I wouldn’t point the finger. It’s not that we forgot playing basketball, it’s a period we are going through and I like the reaction, I like the unity, what they are talking in the locker room. We’re going to find a solution for sure. These moments are for the big boys, for those who can sustain what they’re here for. And we will stay together.”

He particularly congratulated Valencia, who had suffered a heavy defeat to Anadolu Efes in the first game of the double-week and faced a significant deficit in this game, yet did not give up until the end.

“A lot of credit to Valencia. They came over here with a loss from Efes down 20. They were losing almost 20 from us. They did never crack. They played together, kept believing. We gave them a lot of things, but that’s basketball. Today we did play basketball.”
Valencia now stands at 17-10,  and will play against ASVEL in next round. Hapoel, with a 16-10 record, will attempt to break their losing streak against Zalgiris in Kaunas next.
