Isaiah Canaan is fully prepared to return to action after recovering from a severe ACL tear that completely sidelined him during the 2025–26 campaign.
Speaking to the Serbian outlet Mozzart Sport, the 35-year-old veteran guard confirmed that he has concluded his medical program in Houston and secured full clearance for all basketball activities.
“The knee is fine. I train every day and, of course, I go to therapy every day, but everything is fine. I received permission for all activities. The examinations are completed,” he shared in an interview posted Thursday.
The former NBA and EuroLeague sniper initially expected to rejoin Crvena zvezda Meridianbet to compensate for his lost year. However, the parting proved unexpectedly sudden. Canaan revealed he awoke one morning to discover his contract had expired without any substantive discussions regarding a potential extension. Despite this unceremonious departure, he maintains no animosity, stays in constant contact with former teammates alongside the coaching staff, and jokingly noted that he feels bad the Serbian squad will miss out on seeing his ‘new body’.
Canaan refuses to view the physical setback as a disaster. Instead, he utilized the nine-month hiatus as a constructive mental and physical reset to thoroughly reconstruct his physique. Currently mimicking live in-game scenarios, his focus remains entirely locked on the EuroLeague.
“I’m doing everything necessary to stay fit, and at the same time I’m waiting for the dust to settle a little on the EuroLeague market, to see who will finish and what plans the clubs have. When I get the green light and when we see how the situation develops, we will know where I will end up,” he stated.
The veteran remains patient as the summer window develops, aiming to link up with a championship contender.
“That’s my intention, those are my plans, and I’m looking forward to that,” he proclaimed when questioned about his future.
The 35-year-old perimeter threat holds 139 EuroLeague appearances alongside 238 games of NBA experience under his belt.
