AN INTERNATIONAL footballer has been arrested on suspicion of assault and affray.
The star was nabbed in central London after an incident that took place in the early hours of Saturday.
Cops were scrambled to the scene in the West End of the capital just before 1am after receiving reports of an assault.
Police took the player into custody shortly after arrriving in the area.
The 29-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray.
According to the Met Police the alleged victim was rushed to hospital and treated.

They are not believed to have suffered life-changing or life-threatening injuries.
The footballer has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
A police investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
