JAMIE CARRAGHER predicts Liverpool will sack Arne Slot if he fails to qualify for the Champions League.
The champions have suffered a dramatic decline this season and are without a win in five matches in their latest dismal run.

They have now dropped below rivals Manchester United and Chelsea in the table and are at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification.
And if Liverpool fail to reach Europe’s premier competition, Carragher expects the axe to fall on Slot.
He said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football: “Once you see what Manchester United have done in the past couple of weeks, once you start seeing Chelsea, when you start seeing where Liverpool could actually finish outside of the Champions League positions, that’s when you fear for them.
“That’s when you have a completely different proposition when we’re talking about the manager’s job. That’s completely different.

“If we’re talking about not winning the league or not challenging for the league that is collective responsibility, and Liverpool don’t win the league every season.
“Not making the Champions League from being champions, spending £450million and having the highest wage bill…I think they have serious questions.
“If they don’t qualify for the Champions League having won the league last year and spent as much as they have, I don’t think he’s got a leg to stand on.”
There is speculation Slot’s sacking is incoming with Liverpool to appoint legend Steven Gerrard as interim manager to replace him.
But Slot does not appear too concerned about his fate after suggesting the club is in a transition period, with the Dutchman appearing to believe he will be given time.
He said: “Everyone at the club, me, ownership, sports directors, we know what it takes to make the next step in this transition phase.
“But sometimes a little bit of patience is needed in that as well.”
