LIVERPOOL legend Graeme Souness revealed he turns the sound down when he listens to some pundits.

Souness, 72, worked as an analyst on Sky Sports for over 15 years before stepping down at the end of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

But the legendary midfielder still keeps tabs on the other TV pundits.

And the Scotland great admits there are some he finds so below par he can’t even bear to actually listen to them.

Nevertheless, Souness admits he is very impressed with Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney’s start to life in punditry.

The former Sky Sports analyst praised Rooney‘s “common sense” and “authority”.

Souness said, courtesy of Sky Bet: “I like listening to Wayne Rooney as a pundit because he talks common sense.

“If you’re putting together an all-time Manchester United team, Wayne Rooney is one of the first names on the sheet – he was a real warrior.

“I love Wayne Rooney as a player, and I like to listen to him – he has got authority so I can listen to him.

“Some of the other pundits, I turn the sound down.”

Rooney has been appearing as a pundit on BBC’s Match of the Day after a series of disappointing stints in management with the likes of Birmingham, Plymouth and DC United.

This comes after a stellar career that saw him becoming United’s record scorer with 253 goals in 559 appearances.

Souness knows everything about that kind of success after carving out his own legacy with Liverpool where he amassed a total of 55 goals and 40 assists in 359 appearances.
