Giannis Antetokounmpo will start a new chapter in Miami with a new jersey number.

The Heat officially announced that the former Milwaukee Bucks superstar will wear No. 7, ending his long association with No. 34, the number he sported throughout his 13 seasons in Milwaukee.

The change came after an unusual sequence of events. Shortly after the blockbuster trade became official, Miami’s team store began offering Antetokounmpo jerseys featuring No. 34. Around the same time, however, Giannis hinted during a livestream that he intended to wear No. 7, sparking speculation among fans.

A few hours later, the Heat confirmed the switch, while also announcing that all online orders placed for No. 34 jerseys would automatically be fulfilled with the correct No. 7 version.

Fans who had already purchased No. 34 jerseys in person will have the option to exchange them for the updated design—or keep what could become a rare collector’s item from the first day of Antetokounmpo’s Miami era.
