United won 3-2 thanks to second-half stunners from Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha, with some using the quality of goals as an excuse to bring up Young‘s own against the Gunners.

In 2011, just a month after moving to Old Trafford for £17million from Aston Villa, Young bagged a brace in the historic 8-2 win over Arsene Wenger‘s Arsenal.

The first, a brilliant shimmy inside before curling into the far top corner, put United 2-0 up.

Young, now 40, then got the last goal late on with a similar finish past Wojciech Szczesny to round off a sensational day.

That was one of eight wins Young has had against Arsenal in his 23-year professional career.

In 29 matches they were the only goals he got against Arsenal as well, with only Liverpool and Chelsea bringing him more success in terms of victories.

Over two decades later he posed in N5 with his friends and wrote on X at full-time: “AWAY DAYS. YANITED YANITED YANITED”.

Young uploaded two pics from outside the ground with his mates along with a video after the third goal.

One user replied: “Best goals we’ve scored against Arsenal since your ones in the 8-2”.

Another pointed out that Young is wearing an Ipswich shirt in his profile picture after joining them last summer for free, but still went to watch United.

Young has played 15 times for the Tractor Boys since leaving Everton at the end of last season.

He is yet to score and is rarely a starter for the Championship side but clearly remains committed to supporting United.

The 39-cap England international also posted a video of the away end chanting for Michael Carrick -“It’s hard to believe it’s not Scholes” – along with footage of the former midfielder geeing up the crowd with his players.

Young, like Carrick, captained United for a period after spending eight years at the club.

He played 261 times but only scored 19 goals as he transitioned from winger into wing-back and eventually a full-back.

The pair played together on 109 occasions and over 6,000 minutes for United, only making two England appearances alongside each other.

They both enjoyed Sunday from inside the same ground.

Though a minority of comments aired frustration over Young earning a place in the away section over more regular matchgoers.

One fan put: “You get this in the ballot lad.”

These replies were reminiscent of fan disappointment when Luke Littler was seen in a sold-out Man Utd section at Wolves.
