England’s Harley Smith, 20, won the 2026 Portuguese Amateur by a whopping six shots on Saturday at Amendoeira Golf Resort’s Faldo Course.
The Rayleigh golfer turned in rounds of 71-66-70-72 for a 9-under 279 total.
Born in Essex and raised in the England set-up, Smith has long been seen as a standout talent, rising to European No. 1, winning both the McGregor and Carris Trophies in 2021, and later adding the English Men’s Amateur Championship in 2024, plus a professional win on the Clutch Pro Tour at just 16.
His efforts mean the trophy remains in English hands after England Men’s Squad star Eliot Baker lifted it last year.
This year, Baker (Tiverton, Devon) finished tied-20th, while fellow England Men’s Squad player Ben Bolton (Enville, Staffordshire) finished 7th.
English pair Kris Kim (Wentworth, Surrey) and George Saunders (Liphook, Hampshire) also enjoyed top-10 finishes, finishing 5th and tied-10th respectively.
