Errol Spence Jr. has not announced a return. That part remains unchanged. But his name is drifting back into conversations again, quietly, and mostly through other people.

Spence has not fought since July 2023, when he was stopped by Terence Crawford in their long-awaited undisputed welterweight fight. The loss was decisive. Since then, there has been no official retirement and no firm timetable. Just time. And silence.

Now, speculation has turned toward a possible comeback at 154 pounds. The opponent most often mentioned is Tim Tszyu. Nothing is signed. Nothing is confirmed. But the idea is being passed around boxing circles, particularly with Tszyu active again and Spence widely expected to abandon the welterweight cut if he returns at all.

The rumour gained traction this week after Paulie Malignaggi mentioned hearing Tszyu-Spence talk while in Australia. Trainer Robert Garcia later said he had heard the same thing. Neither claimed direct knowledge. Neither suggested talks were advanced. It was information shared in passing, the kind that often circulates long before reality catches up.

From a business standpoint, the pairing is obvious. Tszyu needs meaningful fights as he rebuilds. Spence needs something credible without immediately walking back into the deep end. A super welterweight bout avoids old weight concerns and keeps both names relevant under the Premier Boxing Champions banner.

Still, absence matters. So does mileage. Until Spence confirms a camp, a date, or even intent, everything else stays theoretical.

For now, this is just that. Talk. Familiar talk. Boxing has heard it before. That’s the part people usually miss. Boxing talk moves fast when a known name has been gone for a while. Spence has earned the right to choose his next move, but time keeps passing. Until he agrees to a fight and shows he is coming back, the same rumours will keep circulating without anything actually changing.
