Hip-hop star Drake is all in on Conor McGregor’s UFC 329 comeback.
Drake, famous (some would say, infamous) for placing large wagers on sporting events via his online gambling partner Stake, is getting in on the action for Saturday’s fight card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Unsurprisingly, he has action on the main event between McGregor and fellow former UFC champion Max Holloway.
How confident is Drake that McGregor will prevail? He’s putting $1 million on McGregor at +285 odds.
Should McGregor win, Drake will see a return of $2,850,000.
Even coming off of a disappointing loss to Charles Oliveira, Holloway is understandably favored in his rematch with McGregor, who won their first meeting in August 2013. Holloway holds recent victories over Dustin Poirier and now-lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, while McGregor has not fought in five years. UFC 329 marks McGregor’s first fight since breaking his leg in a loss to Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
Drake has become notorious for the “Drake Curse,” in which it’s assumed the side he bets on in any sporting event will lose. He has put large wagers on UFC fights in the past, notably losing $200,000 when he picked Charles Oliveira to beat Ilia Topuria at UFC 317 (Topuria defeated Oliveira by knockout). This past December, Drake put a $200,000 wager on Jake Paul as an 8-to-1 underdog to defeat heavyweight star Anthony Joshua in a boxing match. A win would have earned Drake a $1,640,000 payout, but Joshua knocked Paul out in the sixth round of a mostly farcical contest.
