MANCHESTER UNITED fans joked “don’t let Paul Scholes see this” after claiming Lisandro Martinez “threw shade” at the pundit on his birthday.
Martinez hit out at former United stars Scholes and Nicky Butt after they teased the defender ahead of the Manchester Derby.
Scholes joked Erling Haaland would “throw him in the net” after scoring while Butt tipped the Norwegian to “pick him up and run with him”.
But Martinez had the last laugh after putting in a superb defensive display in a 2-0 win against Manchester City to shut out Haaland.
After the game the Argentine hit out at comments from pundits by telling them to issue criticism “face to face” and even told them to “come to my house”.
And fans believe Martinez, 28, made light of his feud with the pair after giving a birthday speech to his United team-mates.

After the former Ajax star was presented with a cake by his team-mates, he said: ” Thank you for this amazing celebration and chef for the cake.
“I love seeing everyone together. This is how it should be. Always.
“My best birthday gift was winning against City, now we’ve got to keep humble.
“This is my second family and I am proud of that. Thank you.”
Fans were quick to jump on Martinez’s comments as some claimed he was making a subtle dig at the pundits.
One said: “Don’t let Scholes see this.”
Another wrote: “He’s throwing shade.”
A third added: “‘Stay humble’”, followed by a laughing emoji.
And one added: “Scholes and Butt will hate this.”
A fifth commented: “Licha melting hearts again.”
After Martinez hit back at the pundits for their comments, Butt responded to the player and scolded him for his “emotional” rant.
He told the defender to “f***ing grow up” and said he “shouldn’t be at a big club” if he couldn’t handle criticism.
Butt old the Good, the Bad and the Football podcast: “We’re not on Sky doing commentary on a game. It’s tongue and cheek. It’s quite obvious Haaland’s not going to pick you up and run with him.
“I just think when someone gets so upset about someone in the media or on a podcast, saying something about them.
“To come out and start basically saying they can say what they want after a game, come to my house and all that. It’s like f***ing grow up.
“If you’re going to get so emotional about someone saying something about you, and come out and react like that, you shouldn’t be at a big football club.”
