Devin Haney may have identified his next opponent after Team Haney appeared to reach an impasse with Shakur Stevenson.
Just hours after Bill Haney rejected Shakur’s demand that Devin vacate his WBO welterweight title before agreeing to a 144-pound fight, Haney initiated talk of a different matchup by responding to Keyshawn Davis’ latest Instagram post.
Keyshawn asked his followers, “Who’s going to be next to step in the ring with ‘The Businessman,’” prompting Haney to reply, “You know who.”
Haney’s response came just hours after Bill Haney’s message to Shakur.
Earlier Tuesday, Bill Haney posted on X that Team Haney had no intention of meeting Shakur’s condition to vacate the WBO belt before negotiating a catchweight fight.
“Devin Haney doesn’t need to drop anything first. Sign the 144 lb bout agreement, or DHP moves on.”
That message came after weeks of public back-and-forth between the two camps. Shakur has repeatedly insisted Haney give up the WBO welterweight title before he’ll agree to meet at 144 pounds, arguing the move would clear the way for Keyshawn Davis to fight for the vacant belt.
Instead of signaling any willingness to do that, Team Haney appears to be looking in another direction.
The exchange wasn’t out of the blue. Bill Haney has been identifying Keyshawn as a future opponent for Devin since 2025. A fight between Haney and Keyshawn would also resolve the WBO mandatory situation without requiring Haney to surrender his title.
The exchange has yet to develop into formal negotiations, but Tuesday’s social media activity suggests Team Haney is no longer waiting on Shakur and has begun turning its attention toward Keyshawn Davis.
